The National Environmental Lectures are part of the Environmental Policy of the University (University’s Higher Council, 2011), which sets the importance of including the environmental dimension in the teaching, research, extension, and administrative operation processes in a comprehensive way; it also proposes a scenario to study and enrich the cultural, natural, and environmental heritage of the country within the framework of educating upright and sensible professionals. This responds to the need to promote research that results in the construction of scientific knowledge aimed at understanding the problems and environmental solutions of the country, derived from the interaction between ecosystem and culture (University’s Higher Council, 2011).
A proposal for the formulation and offer of the National Environmental Lectures has been prepared to strengthen the environmental dimension in the academic aspect and to promote the Environmental Management System. To date, there is a base document being verified by the Environmental Management Offices of each campus.
Since the end of 2019, the process started with the identification and presentation of the mechanisms for the curricular-methodological formulation. This allowed us to hold meetings and to receive feedback from the Environmental Management Offices, relevant administrative departments, and interested professors in 2020 in order to finalize the route for the presentation and offer, an objective set for the year 2021.
Since this proposal incorporates the contributions of all the campuses based on the dialogue of their environmental experiences, it becomes relevant to define the contents to be presented, to specify the methodological aspects, and to develop an administrative route that allows the offer of the Lectures for the year 2021.
