Regulations
The most important objective of environmental management is to establish conditions that allow any activity to have the minimum impact on the environment; therefore, the confluence of operational activities based on good practices coupled with elements of environmental culture results in this objective.
To this end, the set of high regulations, that is, those issued by the national government and national, regional, and local environmental authorities, as well as those issued by Universidad Nacional de Colombia, contain the parameters, guidelines, duties, and rights of all those who make up the environmental heritage, strive for its conservation, and impose sanctions for its breach.
Given the complexity of this legal scenario, the EMS of UNAL has a tool called Normative Instrument, designed to identify environmental standards by criteria such as typology, scope, year of issue, and environmental component; other types of calculation and graphical representation functions derived from the risk of legal breach can also be generated.
