The environmental objectives meet the requirement of being aligned with the Environmental Policy of Universidad Nacional de Colombia.

General objective:

To implement and to maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS, SGA for its acronym in Spanish) of Universidad Nacional de Colombia as a tool for the continuous improvement of the environmental performance of the institution and the quality of life of the university community, through the identification and evaluation, prevention and mitigation of the environmental impacts caused by the different activities or processes developed on its campuses, by promoting ethics, culture, and environmental education.

Specific objectives

To promote the construction of an environmentally healthy environment in the development of strategic, mission-related, and administrative activities, which will improve the quality of life of the university community, environmental conditions, and social responsibility.
To promote awareness of creating a culture of conservation, care, and environmental responsibility within the university community.
To continuously evaluate and improve the environmental management and performance of the university.
To establish coordinating mechanisms and communication and effective participation strategies between the interested parties with relation to the institutional commitment to the care and improvement of the environmental conditions.
To meet the environmental legal requirements applicable to Universidad Nacional de Colombia according to its activities and processes.
